The first priority of Spoonbill Restaurant & Bar is the absolute safety, security and wellbeing of our guests and staff. As a result, and in accordance with recent Government directives in response to slowing the spread of COVID-19, we will be closed for the foreseeable future.
It is a particularly devastating time for our industry, but nothing is more important than our health. We continue to closely monitor Government and World Health Organization (WHO) updates and will continue to update you on our developments in the hope that we can continue to serve you and provide opportunities for you to safely engage with friends and loved ones, when the time comes.

Drawing inspiration from John Olsen’s love of all things Australian, Spoonbill’s menu offers a multi-faceted paddock to plate experience. Highlighting the origin, delivery and special characteristics of the food, Spoonbill will leave visitors with an enlightened mind and satisfied belly.
Inspiration gained from Olsen’s Mediterranean travels makes its way into the Spoonbill menu, with his favourite Paella dish making a special appearance. Olsen first learned to cook Paella in the 1950’s and it’s been a reoccurring theme in his work ever since. Inspired by the shape and the array of colours in the dish, he compares the traditional Spanish meal to an art masterpiece.
Designed by Grant Amon Architects, Spoonbill is one of the most unique restaurants in South Yarra with its combination of new and recycled pieces. Enjoy a local brew with tapas at the bar, reserve the private dining room for up to 12 people or enjoy a balmy evening outside on the Daly Street terrace. Whatever takes your fancy, pull up a pew and make Spoonbill your home away from home.
