Desert Walk for Dialysis

Imagine walking 1,300km, and then imagine walking 1,300km through the heart of the Australian desert.

Ken McGregor, Art Series Hotel’s Art Advisor, is did just that to raise money for dialysis treatment in the Western Desert.

On 1 August 2011, Ken started his month long journey which took him through remote communities from Alice Springs through to Kiwirrkurra.  Supporting the plight of the Aboriginal communities in combating diabetes and kidney failure, Ken aimed to raise over $100,000.  All funds raised helped towards the operating costs of a mobile dialysis unit which delivers much needed treatment to the communities.

Now six months on from Desert Walk for Dialysis, the mobile dialysis machine is up and running and providing much needed medical assistance to those living in the remote communities of the Western Desert.
