WHAT TO SEE

THE ARTS CENTRE
The Arts Centre in Melbourne is one of the world’s largest and busiest performing arts centres, attracting nearly two million visitors every year. As well as several theatres where you’ll see classical ballet, modern dance, opera, drama and a wide range of music, the Arts Centre also manages the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne’s much loved outdoor venue.

The Arts Centre also has two great collections documenting the history of the performing arts in Australia, and showcasing some of Australia’s leading names from the 20th century as well as contemporary artists. A continuing acquisition program enables these collections to grow. Items from the collections are displayed in temporary exhibitions and displays, and are a feature of the foyers of the theatres where they can be viewed for free St Kilda Road, South Bank

METRO GALLERY
Committed to showing the works of contemporary and prominent established artists, Metro Gallery located just 10 minutes drive from The Olsen and The Cullen, is a must see for art lovers. Their support of Australian art has lent themselves to highlighting the works of many prominent and young artists such as John Olsen, Jasper Knight, Michael Peck and Anthony Lester, plus many more. Their calendar of exhibitions also includes innovative international contemporary artists such as Swoon, Banksy and Blek Le Rat.
