Drawing inspiration from John Olsen’s love of all things Australian, Spoonbill’s menu offers a multi-faceted paddock to plate experience.  Highlighting the origin of the food, who delivers it and why it’s so uniquely special, visitors to Spoonbill will walk away with a satisfied belly and an enlightened mind.

Inspiration gained from Olsen’s Mediterranean travels makes its way into the Spoonbill menu, with his favourite Paella dish making a special appearance.  Olsen first learned to cook Paella in the 1950’s and it’s been a reoccurring theme in his work ever since.  Inspired by the shape and the array of colour's in the dish, he compares the traditional Spanish meal to an art masterpiece.

Melbourne’s breakfast and coffee culture is a defining characteristic of the city.  Because only the best will do, we have selected a premium Melbourne coffee supplier.  St Ali is an institution here – a pretty big call in a city full of coffee aficionados.  Experimental coffee brewing, micro roasting and a green bean trader, St Ali is the real McCoy in coffee making.  So drop by and see our barista, they’ll sort you out.

Designed by Grant Amon Architects, Spoonbill is furnished with a combination of new and recycled pieces.  Enjoy a local brew with tapas at the bar, reserve the private dining room for up to 14 people or enjoy a balmy evening outside on the Daly Street terrace.  Whatever takes your fancy, pull up a pew, and make Spoonbill your home away from home.
